links  Web Site Sponsor kiwanis international New Year, New President Sunrise Kiwanis has made many changes over the past two years with Chuck Witt and Doug Hollar as our past President's. I hope to carry on that change in the next 12 months. With that said, my goals for 2011 are to get more members involve and put the club in the position that the club depends on no one person for club survival or to operate. I want to increase membership and have these members become active. I will first start with the newly enrolled members and have them get involved at a committee level and then hopefully they will step up in the coming years and lead. I want to lead everyone in the same direction, so we do not loose focus by going different directions.
I am looking forward to becoming the Valparaiso Sunrise President for the next 12 months. I see it as a opportunity to grow as a person, as a leader and as a your friend. I have noticed over the past years the wonderful relationships and bonds you have with one another and I recognized that those bonds and relationships were not made over night. I believe the organization can be even better by implementing more social gatherings that include immediate and extended families. I want to mix old and new traditions.
Lastly, our club has been operating financially just fine, but we can do better. Our club has enough money to operate for maybe a year if something serious would happen. I realize the goal is to give back as much as possible to the organization we have vowed to help, but we must ensure we can continue to operate. So I will suggest that the board develops guidelines that create a more stable club financially.
In closing, I would like to say, my style is to Seek first to understand, then to be understood. I really hope everyone on the board and in the club will enjoy my way of leading. I am driven and excited to be the new President of Sunrise Kiwanis and cannot wait to start serving the club.
